Has SBH come to the divide in the pathway??

I’ve recently been thinking about what the purpose is of yet another clubbing history archive would be?

The majority of historical club images seem to get swallowed up by the mainstreams, then cast aside. Then if the sites manage to hang on but the energy goes from them (guilty) as it mainly gets taken on by others and used in a slightly cringe manner or in exploitative way that seems to thrive on laughing at the unfortunate or misogyny… 

I’m not like that, never was and never can be

That could possibly be said to be the main reasons to have contributed to lack of successes therefore of…

I’ve been putting out images for a while now and from the results I’ve had then the rational view would be that it’s not that widely appreciated…

The lack of validation is a little disheartening as I think the product I’ve got is one of value, maybe I need to wait another 10 years for this time in clubland to come round, much like the main revivals of the Haç only seem to concentrate right at the very beginning and ignore the proceeding years, some of which I experienced but in truth I only really appeared at the end of that journey.  

So what to do now?

Hmm I think any business manual (and after all this is a business isn’t it?) says start by having a look at the product. My main product is the archive of club images taken in nightclubs mainly in the northwest between the times of 1990 and 2020…

In my opinion some of these images are fantastic, little moments of joy in a club in a little historical bubble, I think my work is different because it’s not as snide as some of the other ones and not so pompous as others.

Take these rediscovered gems, taken 21 years ago at 2 Klub at the Music Box which I think were taken in September 2000. Soak in that vibe, I can almost remember it but was until this very week lay undiscovered since they got published all but forgotten to me..

I think they say so much about that time, they evoke so much about those times, the logo t-shirts, the styles, the mix of people, should I go on? Cause really it’s all about the images…  

Saying that tho, I’m thinking that in the next one I’ll talk about my favourite club images, would that be of interest to anyone? I could pick one from each decade as a start…
